CSC Family Day to offer many forms of entertainment

A variety of activities is planned to interest hundreds of guests during the annual Family Day weekend Sept. 19-21 at Chadron State College.

Friday, the CSC rodeo will get underway at the Dawes Co. Fairgrounds at 7:30 p.m. Other performances will be Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m.

Saturday, for those interested in stretching their legs, a "Powder to the People" 5k run will begin at 9 a.m. in front of the Armstrong Gym with registration at 8:30 a.m.

Families may pre-register for luncheon and football tickets by going to the “Online Registration” link at csc.edu/students/family_day/. The luncheon and football tickets may be picked up at the Student Center any time between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Families may register for Family Day at the Student Center any time between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m.

The music department will offer its annual pancake breakfast followed by athletic jersey rentals in the Student Center Lobby. Contact Jessyca Hovendick at 308-432-6317 or jhovendick@csc.edu for details.

The tradition of awarding Family Tree awards will take place during a 10 a.m. brunch.

Football players and their families will be introduced prior to the 12 p.m. kickoff when the Eagles take on Colorado Mines from Golden, Colorado.

This year a special information booth will be set up on the north side of the Dean’s Green along 10th Street from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. CSC staff, volunteers, and professional arborists will be available to discuss and demonstrate how to prepare a landscape for fall.  National Forest Service personnel will discuss the retirement of the Nebraska State Grand Champion Colorado blue spruce and the Nebraska Champion Trees program and urban trees.
