2. No individual shall enter more than three different tests, or enter more than one test at any one time period. All tests will be one hour in length.
3. Each school is limited to two students per test.

1. The contestant shall be a bona fide student at the school represented*, doing at least passing work during the last previous semester enrolled.
   • * Students who are "home-schooled" may register, test, and place as a standalone participant. Students must be enrolled half-time or less at a public school to be considered a home-schooled contestant. Any student that is enrolled more than half-time in a public school must participate with that school.  Standalone participants are eligible for individual contest awards (division awards are not applicable).
2. The contestant must be enrolled in the 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade (or as a freshman - senior) at the school represented. 
3. The contestant shall only be affiliated with one school.
4. The contestant shall have enrolled within the first two weeks of the semester.
5. The contestant shall not be a postgraduate student nor compete for more than four years after enrolling as a freshman. A college student enrolled for high school studies is not eligible.
6. The contestant shall not have reached their 20th birthday.
7. The contestant shall be at least 13 years of age and meet the qualification above.
8. The contestant shall be strictly amateur.
9. If eligibility is contested, the matter shall be decided by the Contest Committee.
10. All contestants will be accompanied by an adult sponsor representing the school or individual participant(s).
11. Please check the test description to see what type of technology maybe use e.g. calculators.

Participating schools will be placed in one of five divisions. To determine which division your school is in, please use the total enrollment of the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades of your high school. (These figures are used in determining your division only. Students in the 9th grade may participate in the Scholastic Contest.)

Points are awarded to students placing in the top 25% (rounded up to the next whole student) of the test based upon the following chart. Only those students in the top 25% of the test will receive points. Points are awarded to the first two places in all tests regardless of the number of students enrolled. Ties for any top 25% place will result in the points for that number of consecutive places being summed and divided evenly between the students tied. POINTS are ROUNDED to the nearest hundredth.

Example 1

If the test has 15 students enrolled:

(15*.25 = 3.75 places receive points = 4 places receive points)

1st would receive 35 points,
2nd would receive 32 points,
3rd would receive 30 points.
4th would receive 28 points.

Example 2

If the test has 17 students enrolled:

(17*.25 = 4.25 rounded down = 4 places receive points)

1st would receive 35 points,
2nd would receive 32 points,
3rd would receive 30 points,
4th would receive 28 points.

Example 3

If the test has 30 students enrolled and there is a four-way tie for 2nd place:

(30*.20 = 6 places receive points)

1st would receive 35 points,
The four students tied for 2nd each receive 29 points [(32+30+28+26)/4=29]
2nd would receive 29 points (Tie),
2nd would receive 29 points (Tie),
2nd would receive 29 points (Tie),
2nd would receive 29 points (Tie),
6th would receive 25 points.

All of the points awarded to students from a school are summed to give a School Total. The School Total is divided by the Total Number of Tests Taken by the students from that school to give a Quality Award Score. The Quality Award Score represents the average score earned by the school on each test taken.

To compete for Division Winners, a school must have met or exceeded the Minimum Total Number of Tests Taken based on the Divisions in which the school is competing.

The school with the highest Quality Award Score that has met or exceeded the Minimum Total Number of Tests Taken for the Division will be declared the Division Winner.

Example

School A - 387 points with 27 students taking 38 tests.
387/38 = 10.184 Quality Award Score

School B - 420 points with 30 student taking 45 tests.
420/45 = 9.333 Quality Award Score

School A would be the Division Winner.

Note: Complete division standings will not be available until the end of the Scholastic Contest. Only students actually taking a test will be included in the total number of tests taken. Students enrolled in a test, but not taking the test will NOT be included. 

CSC sweatshirts are given to the winner of each test. Medals will be awarded to the top three places in each test.  

Certificates of Merit will be awarded to those finishing in the top 25% of each test. Certificates of Participation will be presented to all contestants.  

A plaque will be presented to the top school of each division. 

Every Junior and Senior High student who wins first place on an exam will be the recipient of a Scholastic Achievement Award in the amount of $500 tuition waiver.  Each scholarship is a non-renewable/non-transferable award. 

If you win a scholarship as a junior, you are also eligible to win as a senior. 

Chadron State College reserves the right to cancel Scholastic Day. In the event of a cancellation, Chadron State College is not responsible for any costs, losses, or damages of any kind.

Should the Scholastic Day Committee cancels the event, we will do our best to reschedule.
