CHADRON – The Campus Activities Board (CAB) approved a new club, Students Against Sexual Harassment (SASH), at Chadron State College on Oct. 10. Rylee McManis of Sidney, Nebraska, SASH president, has partnered with Title IX coordinator Morgan Cullan to offer a community for students who want to spread awareness on sexual harassment.

The SASH club has 18 members, including McManis, Vice President and CAB Representative Brianna Hansel of Douglas, Wyo., Secretary Lily Rafteseth of Wahoo, Neb., Treasurer Alexis McGowan of Hemingford, Neb., and Social Media Coordinator Charity Eberhardt of Norfolk, Neb.

SASH requires each club member to participate in a mental health training course. The club offers additional training for interested members to become a “safe person” who other students can talk to if they feel more comfortable communicating with a peer.

The new club will host events to educate and bring awareness to campus on various topics such as domestic violence, stalking, consent, healthy vs unhealthy relationships throughout the academic year. SASH will also coordinate events during April which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Students interested in joining the group should contact Cullan at mcullan@csc.edu.
