Langan, Schuster, and Dalton appointed as Student Trustees

Alec Langan, a junior at Chadron State College, is majoring in chemistry and minoring in physics and human biology. He has served as vice president of the Chemistry Club, a cabinet representative for Health Professions, treasurer for Health Professions, a resident advisor for the Newman Leadership team, a cabinet representative for the Sports Medicine Club, and a cabinet representative for Familia.

LINCOLN – Governor Jim Pillen has appointed Alec Langan of Chadron State, Cayla Schuster of Peru State, and Braxton Dalton of Wayne State to serve as student trustees on the Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State Colleges.They will each serve a one-year term (2024-2025 academic year) and represent State College students.

"The Board of Trustees truly appreciates the unique perspectives and fresh insights our student leaders contribute. It is my privilege, as Chair, to welcome our new Student Trustees," said John Chaney, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State Colleges.

Langan, a junior at Chadron State College, is majoring in chemistry and minoring in physics and human biology. He has served as the vice president of the Chemistry Club, a cabinet representative for Health Professions, treasurer for Health Professions, a resident advisor for the Newman Leadership team, a cabinet representative for the Sports Medicine Club, and a cabinet representative for Familia.

When addressing his role as a Student Trustee in his application, Langan stated, “As a Student Trustee, I am dedicated to serving as an essential bridge between the student body and the Board of Trustees. By working together, we can significantly improve both the quality of education and the overall student experience.”

Alec is the son of Angela and Michael Langan of McCook, Nebraska.

Cayla Schuster – Peru State College Student Trustee
Schuster, a freshman at Peru State College, is majoring in secondary math education. Schuster is a member of the Student Senate, CAB member, and RHA Meeting.  When discussing her appointment, Schuster stated, “As the Peru State Student Trustee, I will be the voice for all students and I will work to promote our successes.”

Cayla is the daughter of Laura and Scott Schuster of Oakland, Iowa.

Braxton Dalton – Wayne State College Student Trustee
Dalton, a sophomore at Wayne State College, is a business marketing major. Dalton serves on the student senate, Future Business Leaders of America Social Chair, Resident Assistant, and Career Scholars Cooperative Education team lead.

Dalton stated in his application, “I want to ensure that every student in the state of Nebraska has access to the opportunities at our state colleges that I have been fortunate enough to have. I firmly believe that students everywhere should receive similar opportunities to grow their career skills and make a positive difference in their own lives as well as the lives of others.” 

Braxton is the son of Chad and Kim Dalton of Raymond, Nebraska
