CSC to host Health Professions Showcase

CHADRON – Chadron State College will host Health Professions Day Wednesday, which is an event designed to inform aspiring health professionals through a variety of interactive sessions.
Wednesday’s event will begin with check-in and an information fair featuring breakfast items and refreshments in the Student Center Ballroom. Following this, participants will attend rotating sessions covering various health disciplines.
There will be several sessions during the event, including “Solving Clinical Cases with Science!” led by Paige Haberkon from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Medical Laboratory Science program, and “How to Sew a Banana,” presented by Dr. Danielle Theis and Ian Ahrens from Chadron Medical Clinic.
Darren Wells from Regional West Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology will discuss “What You Are Really Like Inside,” and Wendy Wells from UNMC College of Nursing will cover “Injections! How to Get under Someone’s Skin.”
Additionally, Lisa Moravec from UNMC College of Dentistry will lead “Teeth Are Always in Style: How to Mold Your Own,” and Andrew Leider, Physical Therapist, will discuss “How to Recover from Sports Injuries.”
At 12:30 p.m., attendees can participate in a CSC information session in the Student Center Ballroom, where they can learn more about academic opportunities and have an opportunity to win door prizes from Admissions and the Health Professions Club.
At 1 p.m., a student panel will offer insights from current CSC students in the Student Center Scottsbluff Room, followed by tours of the Math Science Center of Innovative Learning at 1:30 p.m.
To conclude the day, Elizabeth Stout from the UNMC Allied Health Program will lead a session on “Choosing Your Health Professions Career” 2 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.
