CSC Spring Daze events kick off Thursday

CHADRON – Chadron State College’s Spring Daze activities are scheduled to begin this week and include several items for both campus and community members to attend.

Events will kick off Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Presidential Block Party, sponsored by the Campus Activities Board (CAB), in the Kent overflow parking lot. Food trucks, games, National Guard simulators, and other activities will be available. The Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of C-Hill will begin later that evening at 6 p.m. at Elliott Football Field. Following the celebration, Night of Country Swing (NOCS) Club will host a bonfire and dance in the Backyard.

On Friday, activities will surround the Presidential Inauguration of Dr. Ron K. Patterson. The processional will begin at the Student Center at 2:30 p.m. and the Investiture will follow at 3 p.m. in Memorial Hall. Hors D'oeuvres will be served at a reception in the lobby of the Math and Science Center of Innovative Learning (COIL) at 4:30 p.m. The Pit will also host a March Madness Watch Party for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. Food will be available.

Bob Ross Paint Night, sponsored by the Residence Life Association (RLA), is scheduled for Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at The Hub.

A Solar Eclipse Watch Party viewing the partial solar eclipse will take place in The Veath Planetarium at 11 a.m. Monday. Shining Light on Mental Health and Sexual Assault Awareness will begin Monday evening at 5 p.m. in the parking lot south of the Nelson Physical Activity Center. Monday’s activities will conclude with Bingo Night in The Hub at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, CAB will host a Glow in the Dark Roller Skating Rink in the Armstrong Gym from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Roller skates will be available. A Black Light Paint Party sponsored by RLA will also take place and is scheduled to begin in The Hub at 6:30 p.m.

The Rising Sophomore Ceremony will take place Wednesday in the Student Center Ballroom at 5:30 p.m. Amberley Snyder’s Presentation, Get Back on the Horse, will follow in the Memorial Hall Auditorium at 7 p.m.

On Thursday, April 11, First Aid and Narcan Training will be available in COIL 017 at 11 a.m. That evening, The Revolutionists will be performed before an audience for the first time in The Black Box Theatre at 7 p.m. Glow in the Dark Dodgeball, sponsored by The Pit, will also begin at 7 p.m. in the Armstrong Gym.

Restorative Yoga with Dr. Britt Helmbrecht in the Sandoz Center Chicoine Atrium at noon will begin the scheduled Friday, April 12 activities. Goat Yoga, sponsored by CSC Wellness and CAB, will be at 3 p.m. in the Backyard. A Percussion Ensemble Concert will be in the Memorial Hall Auditorium at 5:15 p.m. and the second show of The Revolutionists will begin at 7 p.m. in The Black Box Theatre. Friday’s activities will conclude with the Nearly Naked Mile which will begin at the Clock Tower at 7:30 p.m.

Spring Daze will come to an end Saturday, April 13, beginning with CSC’s annual day of service to the community, The Big Event, at 9 a.m. CSC’s softball team will host New Mexico Highlands at noon and 2 p.m. The Concert Choir and Community Choir will perform in the Memorial Hall Auditorium at 3 p.m. The Revolutionists’ third show will be at 7 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre and The NOCS Alumni Dance will bring Spring Daze to a close in the Student Center Ballroom at 7 p.m.
