NSCS Board of Trustees approves CSC maintenance and repair expenditures

CHADRON – During its Jan. 12 meeting, the Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees approved $2 million for Chadron State College water and sewer system upgrades and $100,000 for emergency repair and eventual replacement of the Burkhiser Complex’s roof.

In other business, the Trustees approved accessing up to$500,000 for maintenance and repair items needed in revenue bond buildings. These projects include network infrastructure upgrades for $150,000, an elevator upgrade in Kent Hall for $130,000, room furnishings for $65,000, equipment and furnishings in the Student Center for $40,000, and corridor improvements and lighting in Andrews Hall for $35,000.

The Board approved a revision to Board Policy 3510 requiring the colleges to include in their respective health service programs education, awareness and support with respect to physical health, mental health, general wellness, and drug and alcohol education.

Additionally, Board Policy 3601 was revised to allow  college presidents the discretion to initiate the process for conferring a posthumous degree upon a deceased student rather than requiring the request to originate from the immediate family.

The Board’s next meeting will be March 22-23 at Peru State College.
