CSC to celebrate Veteran’s Day

CHADRON – Chadron State College plans to host several events in recognition of Veteran’s Day Saturday, Nov. 11.

The day will begin with a Veteran’s Day Ceremony and Quilts of Valor from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in the Student Center. Several ceremonial military flags will also be displayed by the Lindeken Clock Tower.

Following the ceremony, the public is invited to participate in football’s Eagle Walk starting at 9:55 a.m. at the southwest entrance of Chicoine Center.

The Nebraska Army National Guard from Grand Island will display a static LUH 72 Lakota helicopter on the practice field east of the outdoor track from 10 a.m. to noon. Other military vehicles will be on display south of Beebe Stadium in the parking lot during the football game.

The Dawes County Veterans Honor Guard will present the colors for the national anthem at the football game against South Dakota Schools of Mines and Technology at Beebe Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon.

CSC will grant free admission to all athletic events for veterans with military ID.

Veterans will also be recognized at the volleyball match against New Mexico Highlands University that begins at 4 p.m. A men’s basketball game against Texas A&M University-Kingsville follows at 7 p.m. Both athletic contests will be at the Chicoine Center.

Throughout November, a military uniform and patch display will be in the Student Center and the Cory Mracek Purple Heart display will be in the Sandoz Center.
