CSC announces Wednesday campus closure; late start Thursday
CHADRON -- Chadron State College is closing its campus Wednesday, Feb. 22 and opening campus Thursday, Feb. 23 at 9:30 a.m. because of winter weather conditions. The residence halls and dining services will remain open. The events scheduled for Wednesday, including the Galaxy Series and the women’s and men’s basketball games, will occur as scheduled. If campus closes or has a late start Thursday, that will be communicated as soon as possible.
Chadron is currently in a Winter Storm Warning through Wednesday night and the forecast calls for widespread blowing snow, as well as sub-zero wind chill values. According to the National Weather Service, the wind chill could be as low as negative 30 degrees Wednesday night and snow accumulation could be up to 16 inches.
The National Weather Service recommends to limit outdoor exposure and wear warm layers with a hat. Keep your pets indoors and plan ahead for impacts to livestock, vehicles, and any time you spend outside.
CSC employees may refer to Human Resources or the Employee Handbook for information regarding leave practices during campus closures. Employees may refer to their supervisor to determine if they are essential personnel.
Finally, due to activities that are planned for this weekend, beginning Thursday students and employees are asked to not park in the following areas: the south parking lot behind Beebe Stadium, the south parking lot behind the Nelson Physical Activity Center, and the Chicoine Center parking lot. By not having vehicles in these areas, CSC maintenance crews will be able to clear out those parking lots for weekend activities.
