CSC bookmarks delight young audiences

Christine Fullerton, public services librarian with CSC’s King Library, said the opportunity to distribute nearly 3,000 bookmarks to Panhandle libraries at their annual spring meeting was a great way to show appreciation and support for the region's public libraries. The bookmarks were designed by College Relations and funded by Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, and College Relations.

“It is always rewarding when I get to interact with my public library colleagues,” Fullerton said.

Cindy Osborne with the Western Library System said children, young adults, and adults appreciated the CSC’s support of young readers.

“The bookmarks are as special as they are cute and practical for readers, and they fit the Oceans of Possibilities theme. It expanded our partnerships. People were impressed that CSC was interested in the Summer Reading Program and the children in western Nebraska to the extent they made and provided the bookmarks,” Osborne said. “This collaboration with CSC is unique. We will never know what possibilities it will provide. Maybe in 10 years, a first-year student at CSC will bring their bookmark with them.”

Teri Faimon, Stratton Public Library director, said children were pleased with the magnetic bookmarks in the shape of a narwhal.

Jennifer Holthus with the Grant County Library in Hyannis said summer readers have enjoyed the CSC bookmarks.

“In preparing the bags, we had help from the seventh graders at Saint Agnes Academy and some of their comments included ‘These are so cool,’ and ‘Awesome.’  What a wonderful way to add more joy to our Summer Reading Programs,” Horn said.
