Business students compete at National Leadership Conference

CHADRON -- Chadron State College students competed in June in the National Leadership Conference of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA-Collegiate), formerly Phi Beta Lambda, in Chicago.

They are Markus Ramsey of Minden, Neb., Drew Kurtenbach of Rapid City, S.D., Phillip Soto of Scottsbluff, Neb., Andrew Avila of Henry, Neb., Logan Parde of Ceresco, Neb., Allison Schneider of Lincoln, and Thomas Ganos and Aubree Noble of Chadron.

CSC individuals or teams placed in the top five nationally in nine categories and in the top 10 places of four additional categories.

Ganos placed first in Financial Services, Ramsey and Kurtenbach were the second-place team in Global Analysis and Decision Making, the team of Kurtenbach, Parde and Schneider placed second in Management Analysis and Decision Making.

Other individuals who each finished second were Kurtenbach in Marketing Analysis and Decision Making, Parde in Microeconomics, and Ramsey in Sports Management and Marketing.

The team of Avila, Soto, and Noble earned third place honors in Integrated Marketing Campaign. Parde earned fourth place in Macroeconomics, and Ramsey finished in fifth place in Public Speaking. 

Kurtenbach, president of CSC FBLA said the conference was a success.

“Not only did everyone compete great, but I also really believe everyone who came took something away from it. Whether it was new friends, developing their professional skills, or networking with professionals, all of us really grew in one way or another. I couldn’t be prouder of everyone and look forward to bringing home more hardware next year in Atlanta,” Kurtenbach said. 
 
Parde, a first-year member of CSC FBLA, said competing in the conference, networking with business professional, as well as seeing Chicago were enjoyable.
