Red Ribbon Skirt Society presenting about MMIW Wednesday

CHADRON – Lily Mendoza, founder of the Red Ribbon Skirt Society, along with Red Ribbon Skirt Society spiritual leader Darla Black, will have a presentation about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Society Chicoine Atrium.

The event, co-sponsored by the Chadron State College Native American Club and Social Justice Club of Chadron High School, is free and open to the public.

Mendoza and Black will discuss the history of the MMIW Red Dress Movement, current statistics, human trafficking and how it relates to MMIW, and how people can act in their communities.
