CHADRON – A collaborative program between Chadron State College and Laramie County Community College (LCCC) in Cheyenne, Wyoming, will provide a streamlined transfer process for LCCC Exercise Science students seeking any of CSC’s five Sport, Fitness, and Recreation Management degree options.

The Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees approved the Memorandum of Agreement between the two institutions in late May.

Students eligible to participate in the program may be enrolled in any of the four Exercise Science options at LCCC and may enter any of the five options at CSC, including Community and Adventure Recreation, Sports Leadership, Strength and Conditioning, Fitness and Wellness, and Athletic Training Preparation.

Department Chair Dr. Scott Ritzen said the program is a perfect fit.

“Most of our lower division classes were a good match and that just leaves the upper division courses for LCCC transfers to complete,” Ritzen said.

He said Dr. Erin Nitschke, an instructor at LCCC, reached out to him about two years ago asking about a transfer program. Catalog changes, approval of the new strength and conditioning option at CSC, and the pandemic caused some delays, but the agreement was finally approved earlier this spring.
