Chadron State College is closing its campus Thursday, Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. because of winter weather conditions. Residence halls, the Student Center, and dining services will remain open. If campus closes Friday, another announcement will be sent before 6 a.m. Friday morning.

The forecast for Chadron calls for bitter cold and snow through Monday. According to the National Weather Service, Wind Chill Advisories are in effect for western Nebraska and eastern Wyoming tonight through Monday. The National Weather Service recommends to limit outdoor exposure and wear warm layers with a hat.

Keep your pets indoors and carry an emergency kit in your vehicle that includes blankets, extra food, and water. Additionally, slick, icy and snow-packed roads may have reduced visibility at times due to falling and blowing snow. The combination of cold and moisture may make conditions even more dangerous for area livestock and increase their vulnerability to the cold.
