CHADRON – Chadron State College’s Business Academy has developed three new focus areas in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program: Accounting, Digital Marketing, and Healthcare Management. Each of the focus areas will be offered online or face-to-face.

The focus areas were created to better prepare students for business areas with predicted employment growth according to Dr. Wendy Waugh, dean of Business, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences and Graduate Studies.

Waugh said the faculty are uniquely qualified to highlight rural topics, while teaching these courses built to respond to field with high demand.

She is pleased that $1,000 scholarships will be offered to new, full-time students enrolling in the new focus areas during the Fall 2021 semester.

The general track MBA degree is still available for students who want to be qualified with a broad background in business administration for promotion or more advanced knowledge.

Dr. James Koehn, chair of the Business Academy, said the Healthcare Management focus was built for students who want to work in healthcare or healthcare workers who are looking for additional education seeking a promotion into management.

Digital Marketing is tailored for students interested in studying cutting edge marketing concepts.

“Businesses need this expertise, and there is a strong demand. There is much value in understanding how to utilize digital marketing,” Koehn said.

The accounting focus is designed for those interested in furthering their background in the high-demand field.

“Each program meets the needs of rural communities. Graduates in all of these focus areas will be poised to add value to rural communities,” Koehn said.
