CHADRON – In an effort to focus additional efforts on the enrollment and retention of students at Chadron State College, President Randy Rhine announced reorganization plans Friday during a virtual all-campus meeting.

Rhine took several factors into account to make his decision, including CSC’s work with higher education consultants, feedback from the President’s Cabinet, Higher Learning Commission recommendations following its 2017 peer review, and demographic data from the U.S. Census and Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education in Nebraska.

As part of the reorganization efforts, Rhine announced two positions dedicated to enrollment management: Vice President of Enrollment Management and Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management. The VP for Enrollment Management will supervise Admissions, Financial Aid, and START. The two positions were created using existing professional FTE.

Jon Hansen, Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing, and Student Services, will have his title changed to Dean of Student Affairs. Sherry Douglas, Associate Vice President of Student Services, will have her title changed to Director of Financial Aid. Hansen and Douglas will begin their new roles July 1, 2021.

Rhine also said the college will begin national searches to support CSC’s online administration and development. The positions to support those efforts include hiring an Associate Vice President for Teaching and Learning, as well as an Instructional Technology and Design Specialist.

In addition, select offices had their reporting structure altered. Records, Institutional Research, and Transitional Studies now report to Vice President for Academic Affairs Jim Powell, and College Relations reports to President Rhine. The changes in reporting structure are effective Jan. 11, 2021.
