Wildflower Week to be celebrated June 1-7

Nebraska Wildflower Week Flier

Published:

CHADRON – The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum and Nebraska Forest Service have announced Wildflower Week, June 1-7.

Karma Larsen, with the organizations, said since gatherings will not be possible, the promotion will rely on wildflower enthusiasts recalling their memories of enjoying wildflowers

“If we take the time to trace back our own experience, we might find that is precisely the way we came to our first love of nature, of being outdoors, of wildness…. [M]ost likely our first experience of wildness was something we came to entirely on our own. It may have been in a managed, manicured garden but more likely it happened in a place that allowed freedom, imagination and manipulation,” Larsen said.

Wildflower identification guides, a crossword puzzle, bookmarks, and recommended wildflowers for home gardens can be found at: https://plantnebraska.org/wildflower-week.
