Some CSC facilities now open to public
CHADRON – After being closed to the public since March 17, Chadron State College will allow the public on campus in selected facilities beginning Monday, June 1. The buildings open to the public are the Nelson Physical Activity Center, the King Library, the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center, and Crites Hall. The buildings are open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., unless they have other posted hours.
“We are pleased some of the buildings on campus are opening to the public, but the health and safety of our students and employees remain as one of our top priorities,” said CSC President Randy Rhine. “While on campus, we are encouraging everyone to practice social distancing by keeping a minimum distance of six feet from others and all guests to wear a face covering.”
Beginning Monday, the President’s Cabinet also encourages all employees and students to wear face coverings if they are unable to practice social distancing while in campus buildings based on guidance provided by the State of Nebraska.
All college business will resume in the four buildings opening to the public. Student campus visits will begin in Crites Hall and educational testing centers will be open. Additionally, the Sandoz Center is open for guests.
The Nelson Physical Activity Center will also open to the public, but the facility will have occupancy limitations. No more than 10 people will be allowed in the weight room and cardio room, and no more than 25 people will be allowed in the arena. Patrons are expected to clean their equipment when they are finished and practice social distancing. The weight room and cardio room will be closed Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a deep cleaning.
The college will continue to follow guidance from the Panhandle Public Health District (PPHD) and Nebraska Directed Health Measures, and may identify buildings or spaces to close at a later time.
