Sandoz Center requesting WWII items

The Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center is seeking public contributions for its upcoming show “Soldiering into Victory: 75th Anniversary of World War II Ending.” The exhibit will be on display from April 8 to May 30. The Sandoz Center is requesting copies of photographs of local men and women in uniform who served in WWII and copies of letters they sent home.

Local WWII artifacts pertaining to Fort Robinson, Alliance Air Base, Sidney Ordinance Depot, and Black Hills Ordnance Depot are also being requested. No firearms or artillery will be considered.

Submissions must include name, hometown, branch served, years of service, and theater of operation. Only copies of photographs and letters will be accepted. The submission deadline is March 4.

Contact the Sandoz Center at 308-432-6401 before bringing artifacts since space is limited. Copies and artifacts can be brought to the Sandoz Center on the west side of Chadron State College for consideration. The Center retains the right to refuse any artifacts, photographs or letters.

Copies of photographs and letters can also be mailed to Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center, WWII Soldiering into Victory Exhibit, Chadron State College, 1000 Main St., Chadron, NE 69337.
