Justice Studies students accepted to graduate schools

“I’m very proud that all our RLOP graduates are continuing on with their education. This is the largest RLOP class we’ve sent to UNL College of Law and we are looking forward to seeing this program grow,” Pope said.

The students are Carlos Calle and Alexandria Nobiling of Chadron, John Klintworth of Moorfield, Neb., Gabriele Moody of Burwell, Neb., Chessa Parker of Cambridge, Neb., Cole Retchless of Bridgeport, Neb., and Elizabeth Rotherham of Crawford, Neb.

Klintworth will attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law, and Moody will attend the University of South Dakota School of Law.

The remaining five graduates, who were current CSC students when they were accepted into the Rural Law Opportunities Program (RLOP) in 2017, will attend various programs this fall. Parker and Retchless will join Klintworth at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law, and Rotherham will study at the University of North Dakota School of Law. Calle will pursue a Master’s of Business Administration at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and Nobiling is entering CSC’s Master’s of Science in Organizational Management program.

Typically, the Justice Studies Department hosts a reception for graduating seniors and their families, however, this year, Daniel Binkard filmed a virtual ceremony.

Kevin Zhang of Alliance, Nebraska, is the first and only RLOP student attending UNL. The 2021 graduating senior class will be the first inaugural group of RLOP students since the program began in 2017.

The Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees approved RLOP in September 2016. Through the program, a select number of CSC students from rural Nebraska are granted provisional admittance into the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law. The students are strongly encouraged to practice law in rural Nebraska upon graduation.
