CHADRON – Chadron State College’s second food pantry of the academic year will be Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Student Center information desk. The food pantry, targeted to increase awareness to food insecurity and help food insecure students, is provided by Shepherd’s Pantry at Immanuel Lutheran Church and CSC’s Student Senate.

Shepherd’s Pantry will donate 25 bags each drive and Student Senate has allocated $4,000 to the project. Although students will be required to show their NUID cards and provide the number of people using the pantry bags, names will be kept confidential.

Bags will include three cans of vegetables, two cans of fruit, one can of spaghetti sauce, one package of spaghetti, one package of macaroni and cheese, one package of pasta or rice meal, one can of tuna, chicken, or other meat, two cans of beans, three cans of soup, two packages of ramen, one jar of peanut butter, and one box of cereal.

September’s pantry served 83 students. Of those who received bags, students reported that 63 percent of the bags would feed one person, 18 percent of the bags would feed two people, and two percent of the bags would feed three or more.

The next food pantry will take place Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Nov. 17 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Student Center information desk.

A fund has been set up for those who would like to donate to the food pantry. For more information contact foodpantry@csc.edu.
