CSC plans scaled down Homecoming
CHADRON – The schedule for Chadron State College’s 2020 Homecoming is a bit lighter than normal due to concerns about the coronavirus. A handful of student events for the fall semester begin Wednesday, Oct. 14, but the coronation of royalty and a pep rally are tentatively being planned for 2021.
All Alumni events, including award ceremonies and reunions, are being postponed until 2021.
The Pit and the student Homecoming Committee will co-host the movie “The Waterboy” Wednesday, Oct. 14, 6:30 p.m., on Elliott Field. In case in inclement weather, the movie will be in the Student Center Ballroom, according to Megan Northrup. Masks are required and attendees are encouraged to social distance and wash their hands.
Thursday, Oct. 15, Residence Life Association will sponsor an Advanced Warfare tournament in the Nelson Physical Activities Center. Advanced Warfare is a game Emily Hand of Columbus, Nebraska, played throughout high school. She said the game, which combines dodgeball and capture the flag, was invented by her high school PE teachers. Two teams of eight people compete in each round and masks are required.
“I know how popular dodgeball tournaments are on campus, so I wanted to host one, but with a little twist,” Hand said.
On Saturday, Oct. 17, the CSC football team will host South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. The game, which kicks off at 5 p.m., can also be viewed on CSC Live.
Following the game, the Residence Life Association will sponsor a Suicide Prevention Walk “Out of the Darkness” with registration at the Lindeken Clock Tower.
