CSC offers course designed to help educators adapt to online teaching
CHADRON – Chadron State College has responded to the needs of K-12 teachers being asked to develop and deliver online education for their students.
Teaching at a Distance (EDUC 440/550), a two credit hour, eight-week course starting Monday, June 8, will cover learning management systems, and engaging students and parents via remote technologies. The course is designed for professional development as well as education students earning a degree, and is available at a special rate of $150 per credit hour.
CSC’s Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jim Powell said the course is available for undergraduate or graduate credit.
“As remote education becomes a necessity, complete with its own opportunities and challenges, CSC wanted to offer our K-12 educational partners a course that will help them in their new environment,” Powell said.
Educators interested in enrolling in the course should call Stephanie Alfred at 308-432-6496 or email marketdevelopment@csc.edu.
Current CSC students may enroll by contacting START@csc.edu or calling 308-432-6061.
Dr. Paul Turman, Chancellor of the Nebraska State College System said the system’s roots began in teacher education, and the State Colleges are proud to support educators during this ever-evolving environment of virtual education.
“Chadron State is responding to the challenges currently facing K-12 educators as a result of transitioning to remote instruction this past Spring by offering a course that provides educators with tools and strategies to successfully facilitate virtual learning for their students,” Turman said.
Powell said CSC will offer the course again this fall, if there is interest.
