CSC hosting Excellence in Early Childhood Conference
CHADRON – Chadron State College will host the 31st annual Excellence in Early Childhood Conference, Feb. 21- 22, at the Student Center. More information and registration materials can be found on the conference’s website.
Friday, Feb. 21, consists of four optional sessions and three begin at 9 a.m. ESU 13 Early Childhood Special Educator Pam Uhl will present Nebraska’s Early Learning Guidelines for Math, while CSC professor, Dr. Kim Madsen, presents Nebraska’s Early Learning Guidelines for Science. Both sessions will end at 3 p.m., and cost $25. The other morning session, Supervision of Children, ends at 11 a.m. Sarah Ochoa, Gering’s Head Start Director, will lead the presentation. Ochoa’s session costs $10.
Brittain Trave, an Early Development Network Services Coordinator for ESU 13, will present Safe With You, from 1 to 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21. Trave will discuss proper care for babies. The cost is $20.
Registration on Saturday, Feb. 22, is from 7:30-8:15 a.m. The cost for the full day is $40, with lunch included
Beginning at 8:30 a.m., Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner Dr. Jody Angel-Trejo, will present Cultivating Healing Relationship with Hurting Children: Understanding the Impacts of Stress and Trauma on the Developing Child.
Angel-Trejo, a private practice owner in Kearney, Nebraska, will present about developing a deeper understating of misbehavior and regulation issues and of stress and trauma on brain development and functioning.
The afternoon session, led by Scott Plummer, is You’re Worth It. The former panhandle education administrator will teach attendees how to begin implementing self-care practices that will change their life and the lives around them. Plummer’s session will be from 12:30 to 3 p.m..
