Board approves facility name, other items at June meeting

Several items were approved, such as the acceptance of employee salary recommendations, the 2020-21 Board meeting schedule, and revisions to Board policies, including allowing Chancellor Paul Turman to revise policies to address unforeseen issues related to the current pandemic.

Additionally, design and development documents were approved for the Math Science renovation and construction and the facility’s new name – the Math Science Center of Innovative Learning – was approved.

Also related to the sciences, the Board approved a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Nebraska Methodist College and Chadron State College. According to Board materials, the MOA establishes a pathway of advisement and coordination to allow CSC students to complete a program that results in dual degrees from the two institutions. Students will attend CSC for three years as a Health Science major and then attend NMC’s respiratory therapy program for the fourth and final year.

The Board also approved revised online rates for the 2020-21 academic year in response to the pandemic and to better address the needs of the State of Nebraska. The undergraduate online rate for 2020-21 is $299 per credit hour. Graduate level courses that lead to master’s degrees in curriculum and instruction, special education, and history/math/science education are $359 per credit hour.

Finally, the Board received several information items, including reports on promotion and tenure, personnel actions, and the five-year academic calendar.
