Faculty and students assist with Bioblitz

CHADRON – Chadron State College faculty and students are assisting with the Bioblitz, a learning event about biodiversity, at Chadron State Park on Friday, Sept. 6 and Saturday, Sept. 7. Events start Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 7 a.m., are free and designed for families. A valid Nebraska Game and Parks Commission permit is required for entry to the park.

Dr. Teresa Frink will co-present a session about small mammal camera trapping and Dr. Mat Brust and Steve Rolfsmeier will lead a presentation about mosses, lichens and fungi. Other topics include bighorn sheep, bird banding and bats.

Student members of the CSC Wildlife Club will lead a session on fishing. Students in range wildlife courses, introductory agriculture courses, and “Home on the Range” (FYI 169AA) are planning to attend, according to Frink.
