CHADRON – The approval of the Nebraska State College System 2025 Strategic Plan highlighted the Board of Trustees’ meeting in Chadron Sept. 12.

Chancellor Paul Turman, who presented major aspects of the plan at an all-campus meeting last week, also spoke to the Trustees about the metrics used to measure goals and assess effectiveness within the plan. The 2025 Strategic Plan aligns with Blueprint Nebraska, as well as the Nebraska Governor’s office and its efforts for items to bring forward to the state legislature. The four key outcomes of the plan are: Student Success and Completion, Institutional and Academic Quality, Workforce and Economic Impact, and Access and Affordability. Twenty performance indicators are tied to the plan.

Other items approved by the Board of Trustees include various policy revisions related to student conduct and discipline, due process, and tuition. The Board also revised Board Policy 2510, which includes Chadron State College’s new mission and vision statement, and values.

In addition, the Board received and approved regular reports related to personnel, capital construction, campus facilities, contracts, finances, and expenditure reports.

Grant applications and awards were also included as informational material. CSC applied for two grants and received five others. The grant awards will benefit the Child Development Center, Project Strive, Upward Bound, and student and faculty research opportunities.

The meeting concluded with reports from the presidents of the three state colleges. CSC President Randy Rhine’s report focused on the activities that occurred during the summer, research findings, and alumni success.

The next Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for Nov. 14 at Wayne State College.
