Classes canceled, offices closed Wednesday
CHADRON -- The Nebraska State Colleges will not hold classes and business offices will be closed Wednesday as part of the National Day of Mourning. In the announcement made Tuesday, Nebraska State College System Chancellor Stan Carpenter said the observance is to honor and pay respect to the late President George Herbert Walker Bush who dedicated his life to service to his country. Gov. Pete Ricketts has also closed Nebraska state offices Wednesday.
“Knowing the value and profound respect that President Bush placed on education, the Nebraska State Colleges will still have many essential student services available on Wednesday. These services are critical at this point in the semester due to final exams that are scheduled next week,” Carpenter said.
Essential student services including, but not limited to, the library, tutoring, studios, labs, and security will be provided. Employees providing these services will be compensated in compliance with campus policy. The Dining Room in the Student Center will be open for breakfast and lunch only. The Eagle Grille will be open until 6 p.m. when the Student Center is scheduled to close. Regular dining services will resume Thursday.
