Campus event planners use app to promote student activities
CHADRON – Since the Fall 2016 semester, Chadron State College students have had access to a mobile application named the Chadron State Activity Guide. The free app, used by many nationally known colleges and universities, can be downloaded at either the Android or Apple stores.
Students can search within the app for upcoming events by entering the name of the group sponsoring the event. Additional features of the app include weather, social media links, Google maps, the cafeteria menu, and a calendar where students can select and save events.
Interim Student Activities Coordinator Megan Northrup said the app is a great resource for students and even community members.
“On any given day students are able to see all events and activities happening across campus and set reminders for events they are interested in attending. Organizations are always looking for feedback on their events and with the Guidebook App students are able to ‘Rate this session’ and leave comments,” Northrup said.
When students are planning an event, they should first contact Conferencing to make room reservations and food arrangements. Then they need to also enter the event information into an online form for it to appear in the app.
Former director of student activities and recreation Chris Green built the CSC guide with the help of Information Technology and College Relations. CAB, Senate, RLA, NPAC, New Student Orientation (NERO), and Athletics also provided input and helped fund it.
