Brust to present Graves Lecture Tuesday

CHADRON – The Graves Lecture Series will continue Tuesday with Dr. Mathew Brust, a professor of Natural Sciences, presenting, “Current Conservation Status of Rare Butterflies and Grasshoppers in the Nebraska Panhandle." Brust will discuss the conservation status of about a dozen rare butterfly species as well as several grasshopper species.

All Graves Lecture Series presentations are free, open to the public and start at 7 p.m. in the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center’s Chicoine Atrium.

The final lecture of the semester will be Nov. 27 by Markus Jones, an assistant professor of English. He will present “The Shaping of Story,” including a short craft lecture about plot and tension as well as a short story reading. Jones is the author of "How the Butcher Bird Finds Her Voice", published in 2018 by Five Oaks Press. His novel is an award winner in the Multicultural category of the 2018 American Fiction Awards, has been nominated for a 2018 Pushcart Prize. Jones was also a finalist for both the 2017 Tillie Olsen Award and the literary category of the 2018 American Fiction Awards.
