'Stop Kiss' premieres
CHADRON – The Chadron State College Theatre Department will present “Stop Kiss,” a play for mature audiences by Diana Son, at Memorial Hall’s Black Box Theatre Thursday, Nov. 16, through Sunday, Nov. 19.
Evening performances on Nov. 16-18 for “Stop Kiss” begin at 7:30 p.m., while the Sunday, Nov. 19, matinee begins at 2 p.m.

“Stop Kiss” won the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Award for Best New York Production, and Son, who has also worked on several television shows, earned the Berilla Kerr Award for playwriting. According to Son, “Stop Kiss” is a play about the civil rights of gays and lesbians in America and she describes the play as a love story.
The cast consists of Callie, played by Courtney Smith of Hampton, Neb., Sara, played by Mia Adams of Chadron, Detective Cole, played by Samuel Thomas Martin of Hot Springs, S.D., Mrs. Winsley, played by Mickenzie Loyd of Big Piney, Wyo., George, played by Nathan Wojciechowski of Gering, Neb., Peter, played by Trajan Garcia of Alliance, Neb., and Nurse, played by Shanie Hollenbeck of Estelline, S.D.
“Stop Kiss” is directed by Scott Cavin, Associate Professor of Theatre.
Leo Haselhorst of Randolph, Neb., is in charge of Lighting Design. According to Professor of Theatre Roger Mays, Haselhorst is designing the lighting using some of the new LED fixtures recently acquired by the CSC Theatre department.
“This is an excellent artistic project for an undergraduate student,” Mays said. “This is giving Leo a leadership role, as well as the chance to develop his craft in a real-world project through hands on experience.”
