The Big Event calls for work site applications
CHADRON – Chadron businesses and residents who would like to host a job site during The Big Event (TBE) Saturday, April 23, are encouraged to apply.
Interested parties should contact Dr. Shaunda French, Social and Communication Arts assistant professor, at sfrench@csc.edu or at 308-432-6302 by April 1.
Hundreds of students, staff and faculty volunteers in the past have provided services such as painting, planting trees, raking leaves, trimming branches or bushes, cleaning, and sorting and moving items to the landfill. High touch activities like serving ice cream and playing Bingo with the community’s elderly residents have also been included.
French said the purpose of the event is to show gratitude for the community's support of CSC students.
“I think a common misperception is that The Big Event is based on need and that is not the case. Our goal is to simply give back and say thank you,” she said.
French and other TBE staff have presented about the Chadron event at the home base of TBE, Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, four times in as many years.
