Spring Daze open to public Saturday
CHADRON – After a varied and colorful history at Chadron State College, Spring Daze is emerging from a nearly decade-long hiatus Saturday and will include activities for campus and community members of all ages.
Admission is $5 or five non-perishable food items for adults. Children under 12, military, senior citizens will receive an all-day wristband for $3 or three non-perishable food items. Admission includes a barbecue in the Student Center Ballroom at 5 p.m. after activities close.
Parking will open at 9 a.m. and activities will be from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., according to Karson Langley, vice president of Student Senate and a member of the Spring Daze committee.
Bubble soccer, where participants crawl inside an inflated suit and “become” the soccer ball, will be available on the intramural fields.
A hayrack shuttle will circulate around campus picking people up at each activity location on campus and the residence halls. Carnival game booths, music and food options will line the main sidewalks through campus. Games in the sand volleyball area near High Rise will include inflatables, jousting, potato sack races, dunk tank, high striker, bungee run and sumo wrestling.
A petting zoo with animals including bunnies, fainting goats and a giraffe will be located in the Coffee Agriculture Pavilion.
Two art shows will be open, the Art Guild will present “Salon des Refuses” in the Gold Room and the All Student Juried Art Show, in Memorial Hall’s Main Gallery.
Band performances will start at 10 a.m. and end at 1 a.m. in the Nelson Physical Activities Center. Bands include: CSC Jazz Band, Blue Street, Backroads, Birds, New Beat Fund, Cardiff Brothers and Cheat Codes Electronic Dance Music.
