CHADRON – If a student at Chadron State College is having academics issues, he or she can meet with Connie Kittell. She is available to help in the Student Academic Issues and Concerns (SAIC) office.

The SAIC office provides undergraduate students, both online and on-campus, resources to understand policies, procedures and requirements that deal with course substitutions, grade appeals, incomplete grade requests, concerns with professors and other academic issues.

The office is staffed by Kittell, a graduate assistant from Wheatland, Wyoming. Kittell, a recent graduate of CSC, has been a volunteer firefighter for 22 years, an Emergency Medical Technician, and a certified Massage Therapist for 17 years, and is currently pursuing her masters in Organizational Management.

While formal policies and procedures can be accessed in the student handbook, Kittell said SAIC will aid in the explanation and guidance of such processes in a comfortable setting. The position was established to provide a listening ear for students having issues and concerns with professors or academic issues, in a safe, non-judgmental environment.

Students can see Kittell in her office in Old Admin 232A Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Students can also email studentconcerns@csc.edu for assistance.
