Homecoming week full of student activities

CHADRON – Chadron State College’s homecoming week is full of student activities, beginning Monday based on the theme of “Eagle Days.”

Students will be able to vote for homecoming royalty through a link sent to their student email account.

Monday at 6:30 p.m. there will be a spirit rally in Armstrong Gym, a change from earlier plans due to the weather forecast.

Tuesday, bed sheets will be judged at noon.

At 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center on Wednesday, the homecoming royalty and bed sheet winners will be announced. Following coronation and announcements, Cardinal Key will host the lighting of C-Hill south of the Nelson Physical Activity Center (NPAC).

"Peter and the Starcatcher," a prequel to Peter Pan will be performed by the Theatre department Thursday through Sunday.

Thursday from 9 p.m. to midnight, Late Night at the Pit will include activities and a dance.

Students are invited to participate in a quidditch match Friday in the Amphitheater at 4 p.m.

Saturday begins with the Eagle 5k Run/Walk at the NPAC west door at 8 a.m. Registration is available online or from 7 to 7:45 a.m. the morning of the race at the starting line.

The homecoming parade, led by honorary marshal, Bruce Hoem, professor of social work, begins at 9:30 a.m. at Main and 10th Streets and ends at the Dawes County Courthouse. The parade includes marching bands from Mullen, Alliance, Kimball, Gordon-Rushville and Edgemont, South Dakota, high schools. More information about the parade is available.

Kickoff for the football game against Dixie State University is set for 1 p.m. Alumni awards will be announced during halftime.

Homecoming week concludes with a dance in the Student Center ballroom beginning at 9 p.m.
