Tuesday, Oct. 11, Sid Shuler, a CSC assistant professor of music, will discuss the changes from very early trumpets to the modern-day instruments and how physics played an important role in the music written for the instrument. Live and recorded music samples will be included in this presentation, “The Trumpet: What Johnny and Susie Never Knew.”

CSC alumna and Chadron Middle School history teacher Mary Traphagan will focus on different aspects of the Holocaust and its ripple effects on humanity in her lecture Tuesday, Oct. 25. Tuesday, Nov. 8, Alex Helmbrecht, CSC Director of College Relations, will present “Behind the Polo Shirt: An Insider’s Look at the World of Sports Information.” Helmbrecht will focus on behind the scenes of the world of sports information and athletic journalism, including operating statistical programs, anecdotal stories dealing with players, coaches and administrators and what to do when things don’t go as planned.
