Family Day festivities set

CHADRON – Chadron State College is set to entertain numerous families with a busy schedule of activities for Family Day weekend, beginning Friday at 7 p.m. with the CSC Rodeo.

Saturday in Memorial Hall’s Lobby, CSC band members will host a pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Those attending may pay at the door: adults are $4, children are $3 each, and families are $15.

Pool, ping-pong and assorted board games are available to students and their families free of charge in the Student Center between 8 a.m. and noon.

A pregame tailgate barbecue begins at 10 a.m. in the Chicoine Center Plaza before CSC’s football team hosts Western State Colorado University at noon. Meal tickets, as well as football game tickets, may be purchased at the door. Meal tickets will be $8 for non-booster club members and $4 for members.

At 11:40 a.m. CSC football team members and their parents/guardians will be introduced on Elliott field and at halftime the cheer team members will be introduced with their families.

Many activities are scheduled after the football game. There will a free barbecue and soccer tournament on the field behind the residence hall complex until 6 p.m.

The Eagles Booster club will host a postgame auction at Country Kitchen, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The annual reception and auction, which provides complimentary appetizers and a cash bar, is open to all parents, alumni and fans of CSC.

An alumni softball game starts at 4 p.m. on the CSC softball field. Alumni are invited to attend and play. For more information, contact Dr. Rob Stack at rstack@csc.edu or 308-432-6056.

The public is welcome to watch the Saturday performance of the CSC rodeo team at 7 p.m. at the Dawes County fairgrounds. The Sunday short go is at 10 a.m. after Cowboy Church at 8 a.m.
