CSC winter commencement is Friday
CHADRON – Despite a potential winter storm in the forecast, Chadron State College will proceed as planned with its commencement exercises for undergraduate and graduate students Friday in Chadron.
Graduate commencement, featuring 90 candidates, is at 2 p.m. in Memorial Hall. Undergraduate commencement, featuring 144 candidates, is at 4 p.m. in the Chicoine Center. Both ceremonies will be available to watch online at chadronstate.tv.
According to the National Weather Service, Chadron is in a winter storm warning Thursday night until early Saturday morning. The forecast predicts total snow accumulations from 5 to 8 inches. The National Weather Service also reports visibility could be reduced to under half a mile and slick and snow-packed roads are expected with potentially hazardous driving conditions.
“I encourage anyone coming to campus for the commencement ceremonies to exercise caution,” said CSC President Dr. Randy Rhine.
Rhine wants to assure students who are unable to make it to Chadron for Friday’s commencement ceremonies that they will have the opportunity to walk during the spring ceremonies in May 2017. Additionally, Rhine said if families of students who are partaking in Friday’s ceremonies can’t make it to Chadron, the graduating students can elect to walk during the spring ceremonies so their families can participate in the celebration.
