CHADRON – The Chadron State College rodeo team received the Merit Award from the Black Hills Stock Show and Central States Fair during its annual meeting in late March.

The Merit Award was presented to the CSC rodeo team for volunteering countless hours at the Black Hills Stock Show. Members of the rodeo team assisted the horse committee during pre-stock show horse events and during the South Dakota Quarter Horse Association two-day sale.

“Without the students from Chadron State, we would not be able to put on successful horse events that attract people to Rapid City from across the nation,” said Horse Committee Chairman, Tom Coolahan in a press release from the Central State Fair.

The Chadron State Rodeo Team, coached by Dustin Luper, is comprised of 42 members. The rodeo team competes in several regional rodeos throughout Wyoming, Nebraska and Colorado in the Central Rocky Mounty Region for a chance to win top honors and advance to the National Collegiate Rodeo Finals in June.
