CSC freshman earns NWTF scholarship

Jech, a Gordon-Rushville 2015 graduate, submitted her scholarship application in early 2015. As the only local competitor, she quickly won and advanced to the state competition. There, her application materials were reviewed and she was subsequently notified that she had earned the national award. Her total winnings from the three contests is $11,250.

Dr. Ron Bolze, CSC applied sciences faculty member, said he is not surprised that Jech earned the scholarship.

“If her classroom performance is any measure of her competitiveness for this scholarship, it comes as no surprise that she surfaced at the national level. Missy reached out and seized a potential opportunity. Sometimes, the only thing that students need to do is ‘open the door’ when opportunity knocks,” Bolze said.

In addition to the scholarship, Jech and her parents will be guests of NWTF at its national convention in Nashville, Tennessee, Thursday through Sunday.

She will make an appearance in the Family Adventure Village and receive her scholarship award Friday.

Jech, a range management major with an emphasis in livestock, is looking forward to her first trip to Nashville.

“It’s pretty exciting. This is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” she said.
