CHADRON – In honor of Constitution Day, the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center presents “The Blessings of Liberty: The U.S. Constitution,” an exhibition organized by Humanities Texas. The exhibit will be open to the public Sept. 15 through Oct. 14.

“The Blessings of Liberty” is an exhibition that examines the document upon which our country was founded. Written to “secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our Posterity,” the Constitution is short, simple, and often ambiguous. As the blueprint for our nation’s government, it represents a set of beliefs and a way of life. This exhibition seeks to explain the immense importance of a document that holds answers to challenging questions of government, cryptic though it may seem.

Developed by a national consortium of scholars and institutions, “The Blessings of Liberty” consists of 12 poster panels addressing the transformation of the U.S. from a group of colonies to a nation united by a single document.

The Sandoz Center, on the campus of Chadron State College, is open to the public from 8 to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9 to noon and 1to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. The Center is closed on Sundays and college holidays. For more information about viewing hours or to arrange group visits, contact Sarah Polak at 308-432-6401. The exhibition is locally sponsored by the Sandoz Center through Chadron State College.
