CHADRON – Chadron State College doesn’t take summers off.

In fact, Chadron State, the only four-year, regionally accredited college in the western half of Nebraska, will be a busy place following commencement in early May when summer sessions begin.

The summer courses at CSC are primarily offered online in four or eight-week sessions for both undergraduate and graduate students. The first eight week session begins May 9 and the second session starts June 6. Four week sessions are also offered throughout the summer and those begin May 9, June 6 and July 5.

“Taking courses during the summer really gives students and those searching for professional or personal development an opportunity to get ahead with their studies,” said Dean of Liberal Arts, Dr. Jim Margetts. “Because graduate courses are offered during the summer as well, those in professional fields, including educators, can really benefit from the format.”

A wide range of undergraduate courses are available. In addition to Essential Studies offerings, several classes are available for students interested in Art, Biology, Business, Communication Arts, Education, English, Family and Consumer Science, Health, Physical Education and Recreation, History, Justice Studies, Mathematics, Music, Physical Science and Psychology.

Students taking graduate classes, or those wishing to further their careers with professional development, can also take advantage of classes during the summer months. Students wishing to earn a Master’s degree can take classes in Business Administration, Organizational Management, Education Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, Counseling, Community Mental Health Counseling, Mathematics, and History.

“I have taken summer courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels from CSC,” said Director of Market Development, Danielle Lecher. “The summer schedule is flexible and because many of the classes are online, I was able to complete my undergraduate degree in four years and take graduate courses while working full-time.”

While summer courses offer a student flexibility with his or her schedule, they’re also affordable. The current undergraduate online rate for summer classes is $246 per credit hour. The graduate online rate is $307.50 per credit hour.

In addition to undergraduate and graduate students, Chadron State is also offering opportunities for adult enrichment and early entry courses for high school juniors or seniors this summer.
