Today is the deadline to volunteer for The Big Event. Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to register online.

About 30 CSC clubs and teams have committed to work during The Big Event April 25 including the football team, Project Strive/TRiO, Chi Alpha and Cardinal Key.

The Big Event staff urges all CSC students, staff and faculty to become a part of the student-based, day of service designed to thank the residents of Chadron for years of support.

Organizers emphasize an individual registration form must be submitted for each volunteer who plans to help, even if the person is affiliated with a group committed to participate.

Some of this year’s 50 job sites include Chadron Public Schools, Chadron Volunteer Fire Department, Camp Norwesca trail and numerous private home projects.

Kick off for The Big Event begins at noon at Elliot Field. Volunteers will sign in and be assigned to job sites throughout the area. Each volunteer will receive a Big Event T-shirt, a free lunch and be entered into a drawing for prizes.

The CSC tradition began in 2013 with over 400 CSC student, staff and faculty volunteers who worked at 15 job sites. In 2014, an approximate 700 volunteers participated at work sites including Crawford.

The Big Event began at Texas A&M University in 1982 and now occurs at 72 campuses across the nation.
