Six Chadron State College Art and Graphic design students and seven Communication Arts and Public Relations students attended the 2015 Meet the Pros Conference sponsored by the Omaha chapter of the American Advertising Federation Feb. 16-17.

Faculty members Shaunda French and Mary Donahue led the group.

Art and Graphic design students were Breezy Boldon of Buffalo Gap, S.D., Alex Coon of Bayard, Neb., Troy Fields of Halsey, Neb., Tauna Letcher of Hay Springs, Neb., Emily Linegar of Chadron, Neb., and Stephanie Tarbett of Cody, Wyo.

Communication Arts and Public Relations students were Cheyenne Deering of Wall, S.D., Maria Evtodieva of Russia, Megan O’Leary of Omaha, Neb., Brittany Province of Merna, Neb., Alyssa Sanders of Leyton, Neb., Tayler Saunders of Thornton, Colo., Emma Stokely of West Point, Neb.

The annual conference brought in over 150 design and advertising professionals to meet and talk with students on everything from portfolio design and résumé advice to creativity exercises.

The CSC contingent enjoyed their time at the conference.

“The Meet The Pros Conference was a great learning experience for me. The speakers talked about very relevant subjects in the field of graphic design. They were very inspiring and taught us a lot about what it is like to be in the real life design/advertising industry,” Letcher said.

Students also learned about customer relations.

“Some of the advice was on dealings with customers, whether it be good or bad, so that you could promote yourself in a positive way and without burning any bridges,” Coon said.

CSC students and faculty have attended the conference for six years.
