COLUMBUS, Ohio – Five members of the Chadron State College Pre-Veterinary Club participated in the 2015 American Pre-Veterinary Medical Association Symposium hosted by Ohio State University in Columbus March 27-28.

Dallas Shaw of Buffalo, Wyo., Megan Mclean of Brewster, Neb., Shelbey Nagle of Circle, Mont., Brittany Fattig of Elwood, Neb., and Wayne Robison of Chadron were accompanied by adviser Dr. Lara Madison.

The students participated in wet labs, attended lectures and toured the teaching hospital at Ohio State Veterinary School. Madison attended advisers’ meetings and accompanied CSC students at various lectures.

The focus of the symposium, attended by over 600 U.S. and international students, was One Health, the triad fusion of human, animal and environmental health, according to Robison.

Robison said a presentation on the veterinary school application process was a favorite among the CSC students, as was the large animal emergency care lecture given by Ohio State University faculty. The CSC students were also able to visit with representatives and recruiters from many U.S. veterinary schools.
