CHADRON – Nearly 500 students will attend Chadron State College’s New Student Orientation (NSO) Thursday, Aug. 20 and Friday, Aug. 21. Students will participate in CSC traditions while also learning how to make choices to create great college memories during the “Eagle Pride” event.

“We want students to feel the excitement and pride that we feel about being Eagles. We are trying to impart to the students what it means to be an Eagle both in and out of the classroom. Being an Eagle means feeling a part of our campus and community by being active and involved, making lifelong relationships with other students, faculty and staff. We hope this weekend event sets the stage for a great first year,” said Danielle Lecher, coordinator of the event.

In addition to Facebook and Twitter, NSO will utilize Snapchat to engage with the students during NSO. The hashtag #cscnso2015 has been created for students to share their weekend experiences on those platforms.

The event kicks off with new student check-in and move-in Aug. 20. Students and their families are encouraged to arrive at their residence halls anytime between 8 a.m. and noon to move into their rooms and pick up orientation materials.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Center, a one-stop-shop will provide students the opportunity to finalize business such as picking up their ID cards, parking passes and receive answers to questions about financial aid, billing and course schedule.

CSC President Dr. Randy Rhine will welcome the Class of 2019 on Elliott Field during an afternoon pep rally, followed by a family barbeque.

Friday includes programming for students and family members, followed by the Backyard Bash and barbeque. For a full event schedule and for more information about the event, students are encouraged to visit the New Student Orientation Web page.

All new students are required to attend New Student Orientation. Students register for the event when they complete the Ready to Register form on their MyCSC To Do list.

Registration confirmations were sent in July. Lecher said students who still need to complete the Ready to Register form are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.
