Marx family receives CSC Family Tree Award

CHADRON – Leta Dreyer Marx of Rushville, Nebraska, is the matriarch of our next Family Tree Award. She attended the teacher education program at CSC from 1951 through 1959. After teaching school for a few years, she has been her husband, Arlan’s hired hand for 55 years, herding cows, running errands and preparing meals for him and their sons, Neal and Gale.

The Marx’s daughters, Laura Neubauer and Marla Marx, both attended CSC.

Laura was a member of the Ethel Delzell Home Economics Club, earning her degree in 1977. She later returned to CSC and earned a master’s degree in counseling in 1984. She has been employed as a guidance counselor at the Gibbon Public Schools since 2003. Previously she worked at Fairbury Public Schools for 12 years and Wheatland Public Schools for five years. She lives in Kearney and has two adult sons, Sean and Matthew Mayben.

Marla earned a bachelor’s degree in 1983 and a Masters of Business Administration in 1987. While a student at CSC, she belonged to Phi Beta Lambda, the Ethel Delzell Home Economics Club, Campus Activities Board and Cardinal Key Honor Society. She is a business programs specialist with USDA Rural Development. Previously she worked for Quick Care Medical Services, Panhandle Community Services, Orthopedic Services, Inc., Nebraska Public Power District and Shickley Public Schools.

Gale Marx is married to the former Kim Ormesher and they have three children: Kerisa, Kolten and Kaelob. Gale earned a business degree in 1989 and Kim earned an elementary education degree in 1988 and a master’s in counseling in 1991. Kim was active in the Circle K organization while she attended CSC. She has been employed in the administration of the Hay Springs Public Schools since 2001.

Kerisa and Kolten both attend CSC. Kerisa is a senior pursuing a degree in secondary science education. Kolten is a CSC freshman and member of the football team.
