CHADRON – The Chadron State College Campus Arboretum Volunteers plan to gather Saturday morning, Nov. 21 at the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center for their annual workday creating swags and garlands from evergreen trimmings around the CSC campus.

Supplies and instruction will be provided for volunteers to create greenery pieces to decorate the 10th and Main Streets entrance to campus and the Student Center. Participants should bring their own pruning or lopping shears.

CSC horticulturist Lucinda Mays invites anyone interested to bring ribbon or bows to share and for a personal greenery creation to take home. In past years, the group has also made holiday swags for the Chadron Public Library, Chadron Community Hospital, Crestview Care Center, and other service agencies.

“Our CSC students really enjoy the campus-grown greenery decorations we set out for them to see when they return from the Thanksgiving holiday, and we have such a good time creating the swags and garlands on our annual November work day,” Mays said.

The group meets in the Sandoz Center on the CSC campus at 9 a.m. and the workday concludes promptly at noon.

Students and community members of all ages are welcome and all volunteers should wear work clothes and bring work gloves. For details, contact Mays at 308-430-4186 or lmays@csc.edu.
