Homecoming Week begins Oct. 5
CHADRON – Chadron State College’s homecoming week is set to kick off Monday, Oct. 5, with a week of school spirit not to mention student and alumni events.
Distinguished Alumni Award recipients are Dr. Rocco Rotello and Dr. Richard Owens. Young Distinguished Alumni Award honorees are Dr. Eric Barp and Jennifer Barp. Two families, the Holmgrens and the Marxs, will be honored with CSC Family Tree awards.
The theme for homecoming was inspired by CSC’s football opponent, the Adams State Grizzlies, Sat. Oct. 10.
Online voting for homecoming king and queen begins Friday and ends Monday, Oct. 5. Students should watch their Eagle mail for their personalized link to the voting page.
Campus groups' bedsheet posters are due in the Campus Activities Board office Friday by 4:30 p.m. Bedsheet voting begins Monday, Oct. 5, and ends Wednesday, Oct. 7.
The Monday night Spirit Rally begins at 6:30 p.m. on the basketball court between Kent Hall and the Gold Room, followed by a bonfire with food and refreshments sponsored by Residence Life Association (RLA).
During the week students are encouraged to participate in costume contests. The theme days are: Tuesday, neon, Wednesday, Pink Out Day, Thursday will camouflage, and Friday, school spirit day.
Other homecoming events include Laser Tag in the Nelson Physical Activity Center (NPAC) sponsored by Student Activities Tuesday from 6-11 p.m.
Wednesday night will be busy. Beginning at 7 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom Cardinal Key will host the lighting of C-Hill followed by coronation of the CSC homecoming king and queen as well as the presentation of the bedsheet winners.
Late Night at the Pit Thursday will feature a theme dance beginning at 9 p.m.
A Quidditch Tournament sponsored by RLA will take place Friday at 4 p.m. in the amphitheater between Kent Hall and Crites Hall. Contact Katrina Hurley at katrina.hurley@eagles.csc.edufor details.
Saturday, the NPAC will be sponsoring a 5K run/walk at 8 a.m.
The homecoming parade begins Saturday at 9:30 a.m. starting at the intersection of First and Main streets and ending at 10th and Main. Dr. Jamie Wada, associate professor of justice studies, will serve as the parade marshal.
Kickoff for the football game against Adams State is set for 1 p.m. at Elliott Field. A formal homecoming dance at in the Student Center Ballroom at 9 p.m. will conclude the week’s festivities.
