FFA contest comes to campus

CHADRON – Chadron State College hosted the District 12 National FFA Organization Leadership Contest Wednesday. Sixteen Nebraska high schools, which included more than 250 students, from the area competed in 10 different events to qualify for the Nebraska State FFA competition April 6-8. 2016. The first and second place winner of each contest qualified for state.

Winners of the Creed Speaking contest were Cassie Leithead of Bridgeport, followed by Tatiana Jones of Cody-Kilgore.

Natural Resources Speaking contest winners were Sydney Adamson of Cody-Kilgore and Theresa Barnhart of Garden County.

Winners of the Cooperative Speaking contest were Kenley Schneider and Tiandrah Barnes, both of Cody-Kilgore.

Sioux County won the Agriculture Demonstration contest. Team members are Morgan Edmund, Becky Watson and Maddie Meidell. Bridgeport, consisting of Santi Ramos, Colin Fellhoeller and Will Frerichs were second.

The winners of the Extemporaneous contest were Brody Davis of Cody-Kilgore and Tre Thayer of Sioux County.

Winners of the Junior Public Speaking contest were Brittnye Newkirk of Bridgeport and Hunter Hawk of Chadron.

Senior Public Speaking contest winners were Grace Ford of Cody-Kilgore and Kane Wellnitz of Chadron.              

Job Interview contest winners were Murphy Churchill of Chadron and Jaylynn Ravenscroft of Cody-Kilgore.

Teams from Scottsbluff and Bridgeport won the Junior Parliamentary Pro contest. The Scottsbluff team consists of Sydnee Strain, Payton Flower, Casey Huckfeldt, Zack Ansby, Baylee Bewlay, Shauna Hill and Ethan Aschenbrenner. Bridgeport’s team is comprised of Kaeli McVicker, Jocelyn Pohl, Ryan Blue, Cassie Leithead, Kyle Kildow, Kyler Watts and Kaleb Lussetto.

Teams from Creek Valley and Scottsbluff won the Senior Parliamentary Pro contest. The Creek Valley team is comprised of Noemi Marin, Jaden Criswell and Joshua Schievelbien. Representing Scottsbluff is Alissa Sweley, Sarah Woodward, Max Mason, Hunter Hill, Cody Snelling and Sally Welsh.
